Students are encouraged to apply for the following new scholarship to study English language at the University of Newcastle.

Students from Latin America, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia who commence their English language program in 2010 will be eligible for a reduced tuition fee rate of $A295 per week*.

The Language Centre

The University of Newcastle Language Centre has been one of Australia’s foremost centres for English language training for over 20 years. The Centre is widely recognised for the high calibre of its teaching staff and for the provision of high quality English language programs. Each year the Centre successfully trains approximately 800 students from over 26 countries including students from Asia, Europe, South America, the Middle East and Africa. Students benefit from 25 hours of tuition per week.

  • Newcastle location: Newcastle is New South Wales’ second largest city, and the sixth largest in Australia, with a population of 500,000. Newcastle boasts wonderful beaches, a low cost of living, a very favourable climate, a casual lifestyle, and it’s not far from Sydney. Centrally located on the University of Newcastle’s main campus at Callaghan, the Language Centre is situated in a modern building surrounded by natural bushland. Our facilities include two computer laboratories with software for language learning and email and internet access.
  • Sydney location: Located in the heart of the city, our new Sydney location allows the benefit of studying with a high-ranking, long established Language Centre, whilst enjoying easy access to the conveniences of Sydney’s Central Business District (CBD) and surrounding areas.
